Chanh Chanh!

CASE STUDY

The challenge I faced was creating a unique beverage of my choosing
that met the criteria of the audience, which was: adults ages 30+ with plenty of disposable income and a appreciation for the finer things in life. I chose to do a flavored lemonade that incorporate vibrant colors and themes from my Vietnamese culture.

MISSION STATEMENT

"Chanh-Chanh! is a refreshing flavored lemonade created and inspired by Vietnamese culture and drinks. Sip back and relax while you enjoy the fresh, fruity flavors we have to offer."

Moodboard

We were tasked with creating a few moodboards to showcase the ideas we wanted to build our packaging off of. I knew I wanted to use bold, chunky fonts and vibrant colors from the start, so I gathered as much visual inspiration as I could.

Sketches

I had a ton of ideas for what I wanted to do-- maybe something type forward, or with a fun mascot? If you can't tell, I am a big fan of mascots. My professor loaned me a book on Japanese mascots for this project, so I heavily leaned into that concept.

Digital Drafts

I recreated many of my pencil sketches in Adobe Illustrator, as you can see. Yellow and green was the main color palette since I wanted to create a lemonade bottle, but I also experimented with red and orange tones to reflect its importance in my culture.

Final Packaging

I ended up building on my dragon-mascot sketch and combined vibrant colors and bold type like I had initially planned. I came up with three variations/flavors, including: Chanh Muoi (Salted Lemonade), Dragonfruit, and Mango.
