Inspiration

The first time I studied Art Nouveau was in my Art History class. It was an "aha" moment when I came to realize who Alphonse Mucha was, and that I had admired his work for a very long time without realizing it was him. Art Nouveau is such an elegant and beautiful style that I knew it was something I wanted to try designing within.

Sketches

I created multiple sketches with the idea that I would want to showcase many of Mucha's posters and masterpieces. I also had to keep in mind the amount of copy I had, and that our original assignment was to create a minimum of 16 spreads (cover included).

Design Process

When it came to the actual design, I spent countless hours collecting images, adjust layouts, and rounding out copy within the booklet. I originally had my own art feature on the back cover as part of the assignment, but in the final draft, I reserved it for images of Mucha himself.
